The Importance of Dry Fire Practice During a Pandemic

With all of the shelter in place mandates from our federal and state governments, going to the gun range may not be feasible. In spite of this reality, whether you are a new or seasoned gun owner, you still need to improve your shooting skills. How do you do that? The answer is simple. Dry fire. Dry firing is the practice of “firing” a firearm without live ammunition. It is a great way to develop solid shooting fundamentals. Yes. You can work on your basic fundamentals without actually shooting a live bullet.

While you are navigating how to get your work done using Zoom, homeschooling your children, and resisting the temptation to make another trip to the refrigerator, make sure you get in some dry fire practice. It’s a great way to prepare for the next time you are able to make it to the range. You can comfortably do it in the privacy of your home, and it’s a habit you can master and include in your personal firearms training regimen long after the pandemic is over. If done properly, over time your shooting accuracy should improve.

I have been enjoying dryfire practice using MantisX and with laser adapters simulators and targets which gives immediate feedback. I can’t wait to get to the range.
