Looking for a reliable, safe, and accurate pistol without digging too deep into your pockets? This Taurus G2C might just be the one to solve your problems. While it is an inexpensive handgun, you should not be too quick to judge. This neat little handgun has more to offer than you think.

Previously known as the PT111 Millennium G2, Taurus has renamed the handgun to G2C to represent its compactness. The G2C is a lightweight subcompact double-stack pistol that has quickly become one of the most popular choices among Americans who practice concealed carry.

While G2C was originally chambered to fire .40 caliber S&W rounds, it is now also able to fire 9mm rounds, drawing in those who appreciate a 9mm pistol in general.

An Overview

Taurus has been around for a while and they’ve gained quite a reputation as a highly compact CCW pistol. With a polymer frame and 12-rounds steel magazine, this easy-to-use handgun is slightly larger than the Sig P365 with the following specs:

  • Caliber: 9mm or .40 S&W
  • Capacity: 12+1
  • Height: 5”
  • Width” 1.25”
  • Length: 6.25”
  • Weight 21.15 oz
  • Material: Polymer Frame
  • Safety: Manual External and Internal Trigger

Possible Issues

However, there are two possible problems that users may encounter with the G2C: the trigger and external safety.

External safety is a feature that is increasingly rare in recent times, but this function can still be found on the G2C. This pistol also comes with internal safeties and even a dongle on the trigger to prevent any accidental discharges. These safety features have made the external safety feel rather redundant and unnecessary.

The second issue is the trigger, which is long, gritty, and mushy. In any case, it isn’t exactly the worst trigger in the world, and it does work as intended. Plus, the long and gritty texture makes it somewhat more difficult to accidentally set off, making this pistol an ideal option for newbies.

Advantages

Price

The Taurus G2C comes in the market at a $200 mark which is a barebones price for such a good pistol. This is one of the most affordable handguns available and it’s nearly impossible to find another in the same price point that can compare to this compact handgun.

Grip

The grip is aggressively tacky and feels excellent in your hand. The G2C leads itself pretty well for the accuracy and control of the gun.

Function

The G2C is able to keep running with all kinds of ammo. The top factor when looking at a CCW is its reliability and the Taurus has really nailed that part with this.

Aesthetics

The compact handgun looks good with a nice style. The clean and simple design does not have anything weird or unnecessary on it.

Magazines

Customers will get two magazines in the box that are made from steel so you can expect that they won’t be too prone to break and can last longer. Not only that, but both of them even come with pinky extensions right out of the box.

Ratings

Reliability: 5/5

The G2C pistol is an unstoppable tank that works in any application.

Ergonomics: 4/5

While the frame grip can be slightly improved, the texture feels great and the angle is nice. The safety lever is also just as well-placed as any good guns on the market.

Accuracy: 4/5

While the crunchy trigger is not ideal, the overall accuracy of the G2C pistol is great. You can easily put a shot through a torso target with no sweat.

Customization: 2/5

This gun does not come with many customization options. At most, you can add some light on the rail.

Value: 5/5

This reliable and easy-to-conceal pistol comes at a super affordable price, making it one of the best values.

I love this gun. It is my everyday carry. It is accurate, affordable and conceals nicely. With it being a 9mm it packs a punch. If you can find one or a G3C then buy it!

Would like to know how it functions for a lefty? Sounds like the safety would be annoying.

The customization options though limited, do exist. Lakeline offers trigger and spring upgrades along with plates to allow attachment of pistol optics. I the plastic firing pin guide and the recoil spring assembly with the stainless steel models for increased reliability. the harder project was the optics plate but when it was finished and aligned with the bore my edc became a beast. It was well worth the time and effort.

This is currently my CCW and I love it! I’d definitely recommend the G2C for anyone looking for a CCW to start. Excellent size for women and anyone new to firearms!

Actually bought two G2C’s. They are great. Was pleasantly surprised to find out the multitude of accessories available. Planning lots of fun at my local range. My daughter is also very eager for some bonding and practice time.

Great review, though I believe you were generous in scoring the reliability of this pistol. I have seen a few of them fail during training days. Additionally, the trigger doesn’t lend itself to helping beginner shooters learn trigger control. It is still a high value pistol, which encourages gun ownership and that’s a good thing.

Are there African American gun store owners who I can contact to purchase a Taurus G2C. If so please help me get their contact information. Thanks
